River Studios

River Studios operates out of a purpose-built 10-room complex at 32 Winsor Road in Totton, on the western edge of Southampton, a 10-minute drive from the city centre and a short walk from Totton train station. The complex has four recording studios, four rehearsal rooms and its own licensed bar, and includes a private studio branded 'Black Room': the same business also runs a separate website, blackroomstudios.co.uk, for its mixing, mastering and production-lesson bookings, so students searching either name land at the same Winsor Road address and phone number.

Music production and DJ lessons are taught one-to-one, typically over 12 weekly sessions, covering everything from EDM and singer-songwriter production to beat-matching and harmonic mixing on both controllers and Pioneer CDJs/1210 turntables. River Studios is the Rockschool (RSL) and Trinity Rock & Pop exam centre for Southampton, so lessons can be taken purely for skill or graded toward those qualifications. An introductory offer prices three one-hour lessons at £30 each.

For 18 to 30 year olds, River Studios also runs the government-funded MAS Records Artist Development Programme, a free course that leads to a BTEC diploma in music production.
