Leicester College
further educationFormed in 1999 from the merger of Charles Keene College and Southfields College. Runs a fuller music technology pathway than a single course: a Level 2 Diploma (Music Industry Skills - Technology, one year, fee not published), a Level 3 National Extended Diploma (two years; its own fee table quotes a £2,882/yr 'Annual Tuition fee' plus a £40 materials fee and £20 towards visits, which reads as the fee-paying/adult rate rather than something charged to funded 16-18 students, though the page's wording on this is not fully clear: it only says those 19 or over 'may incur fees if you continue to the second year'). It also runs an HND Music Performance covering production and DJing as well as performance (two years, £6,525/yr, at St Margaret's Campus), and a Music Technology Foundation Degree validated by De Montfort University (two years, £6,525/yr for 2026 entry, rising to £6,695 for 2027, at Abbey Park). An older Higher National Certificate course page for 'Music (Performance or Production)' now 404s, suggesting it's been superseded by the HND route rather than still running alongside it (worth confirming directly before assuming it's gone for good). Its own course pages state Leicester College is an Apple Pro Training Centre and Roland Academy as well as an Ableton Certified Training Center, though only the Ableton claim is independently checkable via Ableton's own directory.
Music Learning Collective, Leicester
private schoolThe Leicester branch of the Music Learning Collective group, run from Stayfree Music's rehearsal complex on Frog Island, open Saturdays only (10am to 5pm). Operating since January 2020, delivering lessons privately and in local schools. One-to-one DJ and music production lessons, billed as a monthly subscription like MLC's other branches; the exact Leicester rate isn't published online (MLC's West Bridgford branch charges £74.50/month for a weekly 30-minute lesson, likely indicative). This branch leans on West Bridgford's infrastructure more than its own listing lets on: its own contact block gives a phone number that also carries a 0115 (Nottingham) dialling code, alongside a 'nottingham@musiclearningcollective.com' email address, and its own site copy says Leicester students showcase performances at Metronome, which is Nottingham Trent University's venue in Nottingham, not anything local to Leicester. Teaching follows the group's own "MLC Method": a structured, progressive pathway with a digital learning platform and regular performance opportunities built in, rather than named individual tutors.

Offers one-to-one production, mixing and mastering sessions on Logic Pro across two studio rooms, plus an Artist Development package. The cheapest priced-in service is one-off mastering at £25/track; 1-2-1 production lessons and DJ lessons are each £30/hour; studio room hire runs £30/hour (Studio B) to £35/hour (Studio A). Studio A is built around a Slate Raven Core Duo workstation with Adam Audio A5X and Dynaudio LYD48 monitoring; Studio B is a smaller iMac/UAD Apollo Twin setup with KRK Rokit 8 monitors.
