BIMM Bristol
private schoolBIMM Bristol has taught since 2008. BIMM itself was granted university title in 2022, but that followed Privy Council degree-awarding powers won in 2019 that are still time-limited: currently extended only to March 2027, not a permanent status. TEF 2023 rated BIMM University Bronze overall from the Office for Students. Bristol offers only the standard BIMM degree menu at the uniform £9,790/yr UK fee; no short course, foundation year or diploma route exists at this campus specifically. Its clearest local pedigree is via IDLES: guitarist Lee Kiernan teaches here, drummer Jon Beavis is an alumnus, and songwriter George Ezra signed to Columbia within a year of enrolling in 2011.
dBs Institute Bristol
private schoolNot dBs's founding campus, despite sometimes being described that way: that was Plymouth, where friends Nige Burt and Dave Puttick built their first studio, Deep Blue Sound, in 1998 before taking their first cohort of seven students in 2000. Bristol opened later, in 2013. Degrees are validated by Falmouth University (whose own TEF 2023 rating is Silver) rather than being dBs's own award; the Access to HE Diploma is £4,835/yr, BA/BSc £9,790/yr, MA £10,500 full-time. Since 2021 dBs has been owned by Access Creative College, which also runs Bristol's other RSL music production diploma across town, so two of this city's three big music-course providers share a parent company.

private schoolAccess Creative began as Access to Music, founded in Leicester in 1992 by John Ridgeon; Bristol was its second-ever site, opened in 1999, nearly two decades before the 2017 rebrand. Its Level 3 Music Production diploma here is a two-year RSL/BTEC-style Extended Diploma (up to 168 UCAS points), kept as its own distinct course rather than folded into a broader creative-industries award, though the full module list wasn't published to independently confirm that beyond the course overview. Free for 16-18s; 19+ students previously paid £2,882 for the first year, though that figure could not be re-verified live. Ofsted rated the college (all seven centres, including Bristol) 'Expected Standard' in a May 2026 inspection (the middle tier of Ofsted's new 5-point framework). Since 2021 it has also owned dBs Institute, Bristol's other big audio-production provider.
