Queen's University Belfast
universityQueen's runs a BA in Music and Audio Production (UCAS code W374) through its School of Arts, English and Languages, a 3-year full-time degree requiring ABB at A-level. Students record, edit, mix and master using professional studio facilities and get sound reinforcement experience alongside industry professionals, plus optional performance and composition modules. Teaching happens across two sites: the Music building at University Square and the Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) on Cloreen Park, which houses the world's first Sonic Laboratory, a three-dimensional sound projection space. SARC was founded in 2001 and its purpose-built home was opened by Karlheinz Stockhausen in 2004. The wider school has ten sound studios, two computer suites and an equipment loan store. The school is an Avid Learning Partner, so undergraduates can add Pro Tools and Media Composer certifications (£20 to £90 per course) on top of the degree. Tuition for the BA itself runs £4,985/yr for NI and ROI students, £9,790 for the rest of Great Britain, and £24,600 for EU/international students. Belfast Metropolitan College

Entry needs 12 tariff points plus 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including GCSE Music (or Grade 3 on an instrument), and applicants must be 16 by 1 July of their start year. Modules cover Studio Recording, Music Technology and Live Events, Music Sequencing, Composition, Sound Design and planning a career in the music industry, with access to a recording studio and two computer suites running Pro Tools and Ableton Live. The college also runs a separate Foundation Degree, Music and Sound for Digital Arts (Performance and Production), validated by the Open University, which it describes as the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. Fees are not published on the course page; prospective students are directed to the college's Student Funding team. The qualification is awarded by Pearson (qualification number 603/3071/5).
Giga Training
training centreGiga Training is a Belfast multimedia training outfit that has run music tech, DJ and film courses for over a decade; the registered company, Giga Training Ltd, was incorporated in 2011 and remains active at Companies House. Courses run as small weekly evening groups, capped at 6 students. Ableton Level 1 is 8 weekly 90-minute sessions for £180 upfront (or £25/week on a payment plan), covering warping, MIDI sequencing, Ableton's synths and effects, mixing basics and finishing a track. DJing Level 1 runs £15.99/week for weekly 1-hour sessions on Traktor Scratch, covering setup, beatmatching, scratching and mixing; 1-to-1 DJ or production sessions are also available at £50/hour for up to two people. A separate 10-week Electronic Music Production evening course (Monday 7-9.30pm) costs £250 and uses Strandtown Studios' recording facilities in east Belfast. OCN and BTEC-accredited programmes are also offered for schools and youth groups.
Belfast DJ Studio
training centreBelfast DJ Studio operates out of Blackstaff Mill on the Springfield Road, mainly as a DJ practice, livestreaming and production studio for hire (£17 to £27/hour), but it also runs structured one-to-one teaching through resident tutor Tyler Jack, its DJ Instructor and Ableton Live Production Tutor. Booked sessions cover DJ lessons plus Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro X production. The headline offerings are two 20-hour Masterclasses taught in eight 2-hour blocks. The DJ Masterclass costs £950 and moves from Rekordbox DJ software fundamentals and beatmatching through effects, key mixing and building a live set, finishing with a module on social media promotion and booking shows. The Production Masterclass costs £1,250 and uses Ableton Live throughout, covering drum programming, MIDI instruments, sample manipulation, mixing and preparing a track for release. Both end with a Belfast DJ Studio branded completion certificate. Shorter one-off lessons with Tyler Jack are also bookable directly through the site, alongside the hourly studio rental rates.
